Kate Gill’s Americaring is another example of show with some potential being produced before it is actually ready. As the title implies, and where the most conflict comes from, is from a mother with cancer being denied appropriate care by the American Healthcare system. The problem is that Gill, maybe from fear, refuses to confront the system directly. She instead chooses an obtuse route where the mother is denied care because of individual, rather than systematic, greed. That may keep her from being sued, but it is not very impactful.

Annie, (Queen Davis), Mick (Carlos Frauzzetti), Jimmy (Teagan Guertin) and Mac (Kevin Dowling) are dealing with the loss of their mother/wife from cancer. Mac has become an unemployed alcoholic, Mick is the neighborhood drug dealer, Annie is trying to keep the family fed and looking forward to college, and Jiimmy is trying to understand his family and survive middle school. From the other side of the tracks comes Kyle (Preston Ottaviano), as Annie’s rich boyfriend, Frank (Mark Gilchrist) as Kyle rich father and Mac’s former employer, and Marilyn (Fredda Takacs) as Frank’s wife, Kyle’s Stepmother and a stripper/bartender.
