Whenever I go to see a solo show, my first thought is always one of respect. I have great respect for anyone who has the nerve and the bravery to do a solo show, especially when the subject of that show is themselves. That being said, the biggest pitfall I see people fall into when producing and creating their own solo show is having the show and the material accessible to audience members that are not their friends or families.

So many solo shows that I have seen can be wonderful experiences for audience members who know the performer, but if you do not, there is alway content and context that is out of your reach. And unfortunately for this show I did fall into the latter category, not to say that I did not enjoy the show. I just felt that it was not for me and that it was performed solely for family and friends and I just happened to be there.

This show was racy, raunchy and a lot of good energy and the use of the space was clever with an interesting set design and good use of video and music. Definitely a fun show and well
enjoyed by the audience, but for me it did fall flat and felt more like a vanity project for the actor rather than a thought out piece with a message for the audience.
