Actor and director Ben Atkinson is set to bring a special industry presentation of Charles Evered’s play “CLASS” to New York City. Presented by GOTO GOTO Studio in association with Jay Michaels Global Communications LLC, the production will showcase the regional cast, with Atkinson starring as Elliot, the jaded acting teacher, alongside Eliza Banaszak as Sarah. Performances will be held at Open Jar Studios on 1601 Broadway on Wednesday, April 9th, at 1:30 pm and 5:00 pm.

“CLASS” explores the complex relationship between a prominent acting teacher and a mysterious young woman who appears at his studio. What begins as a clash of wills evolves into a unique and moving bond built on love and respect, with surprising twists and sharp wit woven throughout. The play has garnered critical acclaim, with The New York Times praising Evered’s understanding of celebrity and Broadway World calling it “a flawless experience.”

Atkinson is particularly excited to bring “CLASS” to the city where it’s set and to revisit the role of Elliot. A seasoned performer with experience on both coasts, Atkinson’s stage credits include “Diana of Dobson’s” and “As You Like It” with the Antaeus Theatre Company, the world premieres of “Resolving Hedda” at The Victory Theatre Center, and “An Actor’s Carol” (also by Evered) at the Hi-Desert Playhouse. He previously worked with Banaszak in “Love and Information” at Live Arts in Charlottesville. Beyond acting, Atkinson is the founder and director of the Queen Charlotte’s Villeins Shakespeare troupe and produces video content through his company, GOTO GOTO Studio. His film work includes several short films and online series, as well as a starring role in the feature film “Ripple” (2015).

Joining Atkinson is Eliza Banaszak, who reprises her role as Sarah. A student based in Charlottesville, Virginia, Banaszak has a diverse theatrical background, appearing in productions such as “Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella,” “Into The Woods,” and “You Don’t Know Jackshit About the Mothman.” She also has experience directing, with credits including “Godspell” and “The Rocky Horror Show.” A passionate advocate for yoga, improvisation, and disability advocacy, Banaszak also works as a Party Princess with Character Connections.

This industry presentation offers a unique opportunity for theater professionals to experience “CLASS” and witness the talents of Atkinson and Banaszak.
