“Peter and the Starcatcher” comes to the Lighthouse Repertory Theater Company’s main stage this spring! Come see this brand new company’s inaugural production in their Long Island theater between May 31st and June 2nd!

President Tony Chiofalo and his wife, Vice President Kami Crary founded Lighthouse with the hopes of making an impact on and off the stage. Their not-for-profit theatre is breaking the mold by harnessing the power of theatre into charitable contributions. For their premiere productions, they have selected KiDS NEED MoRE as the recipient of their proceeds!
KiDS NEED MoRE is a Long Island based charity organization that aims to improve the lives of children with life-threatening illnesses or interruptions to their childhood. To do this, they facilitate medically staffed summer camps, virtual camps, Holiday cheer programs, and more! By focusing on the strength of these children’s familial bonds, they are able to strengthen their support system and enhance their lives!
Tony and Kami tell us that they chose this organization because it is aligned with their own core values. “They’re always trying to do MORE for the kids and families- just like Lighthouse is always looking to do MORE for the community with our productions.” Says Kami.
Tony, who doubles as the show’s director, also chimed in, telling us that he chose “Peter and the Starcather” for its potential to resonate with the children and families associated with KiDS NEED MoRE! “The stripped-back and imaginative nature of Peter and the Starcatcher personifies the storyteller genre, so it really resonated with us.”
For him, this show is a chance to encourage collaboration and creativity. He tells us about his personal direction method, which includes encouraging his cast to contribute their ideas and personal flare. He prides himself on this method and considers his role that of a facilitator, rather than a creator.
“It never ceases to amaze me what actors bring to the process. They find things in the character that aren’t obvious in the script, and they just flesh out this completely complex character,” he says. This is just the first testament to how talented this cast is!
Beyond this production’s incredible mission, it features an incredible cast. Members include Calvin Zanetti, Christopher Connor, Giovanni Marine, Jacklyn Lisi, and Glen McKay. This team is not only full of talent but full of passion. Many of them expressed a deep gratitude to be involved in a show with a measurable impact.
Jacklyn Lisi who is also a Board Member at Lighthouse, is delighted to get her chance to play Molly in this show. With only a tiny bit of embarrassment, she tells us she “used to leave my bedroom window open, hoping Peter would whisk me away to Neverland.”
While this may seem like a childish sentiment, it is something we are sure their audience will resonate with. Further, it is something Jacklyn found some challenge in. As an adult, she has had to hone the technique of playing a 13-year-old girl. She hasn’t done this alone, and tells us that she leaned on her cast for their support throughout the process. “We lift each other up. My co-stars make it so easy for me to be Molly because they’re so great at portraying their characters!”
The Lighthouse Reperatory Theatre Company gives is a litany of reasons to see “Peter and the Starcatcher!” From their dedicated team, to their incredible cast, to their touching mission, Lighthouse is emerging as a beacon of inspiration in the world of theatre.
