Joe Leo Interview by Jen Bush

Mamaroneck is about to become MamaROCKneck when Choices: A Rock Opera hits The Emelin Theater in November.   It tells the story of Ace, the lead singer of a rock band called Choices.  His intense drive and focus have brought the band great success but has left Ace emotionally underdeveloped and lacking any life experience beyond the stage.  Enter a mysterious and intriguing woman leaving Ace to make some difficult “choices”.

We were delighted to chat with Joe Leo who plays Band Member 2, Joey.  Joe Leo is a musician, singer/songwriter and performer.  He co-owns and operates a live music rehearsal community in Hawthrone, NY.  When he’s not getting your motor running, he’s heading out on the highway as the road captain for a motorcycle club in Westchester. 

This musical takes place in the 80’s and Joe has a good handle on what made the 80’s stand out.  “The makeup, the big hair, and MTV. It was a trend setting time, in fashion, music, and lifestyles. Sex drugs and rock n roll at its peak and living a life of excess and having a good time all the time. That’s my idea of the 80’s.” 

Joe is hoping the audiences will have a blast seeing this production.  “I hope this show conveys a fun and exciting experience about the rock and roll lifestyle and showing them how extravagant 80’s glam rock and roll bands were and how it was “nothing but good time.” Poison

All artists learn something from every creative experience they have.  Joe learned how awesome the 80’s was.  “The 80’s was the most fun decade we will ever know! I love the 80’s.” 

Everybody involved in this production is likeminded in terms of the future of this musical.  Choices: A Rock Opera is on a road to Theater Greatness! It’s only a matter of time before everyone wants to experience Choices: A Rock Opera! And I hope to be there through it all.”
